Vaccination

Covid Vaccine Information

We are offering Pfizer adult and paediatric pfizer (Pfizer Original, Bivalent Omicron BA.4/5, BA.1) Covid-19 vaccines.

The Pfizer adults vaccine is currently available for anyone from 12 years old.
The Pfizer kids vaccine is available for children 5-11 years old.

First Booster

ATAGI recommends the additional vaccination booster with Pfizer for everyone 16 years and older to provide the maximum protection available against COVID-19 (4 months after your second dose).

More information is available on the health.gov.au website.

Winter booster (4th dose)

An additional booster, or fourth dose, is recommended for people at increased risk of severe illness, to be given 3 months after their first booster dose.

You should get a fourth dose if you are:

  • 50 years or older
  • a resident of an aged care or disability care facility
  • severely immunocompromised (this will be a fifth dose)
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and aged 50 years and older
  • 16 years or older and with a CV medical condition that increases the risk of severe COVID-19 illness (see the table below for expanded groups)
  • 16 years or older with disability with significant or complex health needs or multiple comorbidities which increase risk of poor outcome.

ATAGI has advised people aged 30 to 49 years old can receive a fourth dose if they choose.

FAQ

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes, we offer both video and phone appointments.

Please note, due to Medicare changes, as of 1 July 2021, we can no longer offer the initial mental health care plan, or GP management care plans as phone consults. These can only be done as Telehealth (video) calls.

What if I have respiratory symptoms?

If you have any Covid 19 like symptoms, you will require a negative RAT on the day of your appointment. This includes infants and children.

You will need to get a COVID test and then have a telephone appointment.

Other Vaccine information including Travel Vaccines

We have Q fever and yellow fever vaccines in stock

When making an appointment for travel vaccinations please note that you need to:

  • Advise reception the appointment is for travel medicine so you are booked in to see a doctor who specialises in this area.
  • Allow six weeks before your departure date for the first visit to maximize vaccine coverage. We understand this is not always possible and we can still help you stay well while travelling whatever your departure date.
  • When you have decided on the length of your trip, the type of accommodation and activities that you will be involved in, please bring your itinerary so that we can give you the best possible advice. These are all important factors when advising you regarding travel health.
  • Alert the doctor if you have any chronic illnesses, are allergic to anything or take any medications.

The initial consult fee is $98; a portion of this can be claimed from Medicare. Follow up visits to complete the vaccine course planned at this visit are bulk- billed. If you have private insurance with pharmaceutical cover you may be able to claim a portion of the vaccine costs.
